Door-to-door Sales
When you purchase something in your own home, special laws apply which protect you from high pressure sales. Most importantly, you normally have a “cooling off” period of three days to cancel the contract, and you must be informed of that right.
Successful Case Result
I represented two separate buyers of water treatment systems sold at customer’s homes. Several misrepresentations were part of the seller’s sales presentation, and the systems were financed in such a way as to violate the federal Truth in Lending Act. We filed a successful class action lawsuit to force the defendants to stop misrepresenting the water systems and comply with the Truth in Lending Act.
