Solar Panel Fraud
Did you get ripped off on your sale of solar panels? Many solar companies misrepresent or improperly install solar panels, then disappear leaving the buyer to pay off a loan.
RECENT CASE
A couple purchased and financed solar panels from a salesman representing a solar installation company as well as a bank. The installation company performed shoddy work, and the panels failed an inspection by the City of San Jose and were inoperable. The installation company then went out of business. The couple was left with a loan that the salesman had arranged through a separate bank. Legally, the bank was subject to the claims and defenses that the couple had against the defunct business, but the bank demanded that the couple pay despite the fact that the solar panels didn’t work.
